Posted on 08/01/2023

Like most people these days, we use tons of tech devices. From smart speakers to laptops to smartphones, we use it all. Better yet, we’ve gotten or given a bunch of new tech over the holidays, too, and figured you might like to know what we actually use in our real lives. Here, then, are the tech gadgets, gear, and devices that we love the most.

This little Chromebook was for my husband, who does normal, household tasks like paying bills online, shopping, watching YouTube, and general casual computing. He wanted something small and lightweight that he could carry around without fear of breaking it.

this computer fits the bill. It’s powerful enough for him to accomplish all his online tasks, has a 12-hour battery life, and syncs with all

One of the most popular gadgets at the show goes in your toilet

Posted on 08/01/2023

One of the most popular gadgets at CES 2023 isn’t a wild new TV or some slick electric car. It’s a small device that sits in your toilet and analyzes your urine to track your health.

Yes, the Withings U-Scan is a small puck that attaches to the inside of your toilet and scans your urine to determine things like women’s menstrual cycles or whether you’re getting enough protein or vegetables in your diet and sends the data to your Withings HealthMate app.

The U-Scan clips to the inside front of your toilet bowl to help catch your urine stream. It then pulls in the urine testing via the replaceable test cartridge. Each cartridge includes 100 tests, which Withings says will last about 3 months.

The company is offering 3 different cartridges for the U-Scan. The U-Scan Cycle measures biomarkers for the Luteinizing Hormone; specific gravity for water balance; and pH for protein-vegetable balance. The idea is to help women better track their cycle and understand their ovulation window without having to use any additional apps.

The U-Scan Nutri Balance measures biomarkers for specific gravity, protein-vegetable balance, ketones, and Vitamin C. Finally, the U-Scan for professionals is for, well, professionals

ces: Tech world gathers at CES 2023 for exciting displays of the latest gadgets

Posted on 07/01/2023
CES, the annual tech industry event formerly known as the Consumer Electronics Show, is returning to Las Vegas this week with the hope that it looks more like it did before the coronavirus pandemic.

Media previews start Tuesday and Wednesday, with the show opening Thursday and continuing through Sunday.

The show changed its name to CES several years ago to better reflect the changing industry and the event, which has expanded beyond audio and video to include automotive, digital health, smart phones, wearables and other technologies.

Companies and startups will showcase innovations in virtual reality, robotics and consumer tech items to the media and others in the tech industry. The show is not open to the general public.

Organizers say their goal is to draw 100,000 attendees. That would be a marked contrast with the look and feel of the past two shows – the last of which saw a 70% drop in in-person attendance amid the spread of the Omicron variant. The one before that was held virtually, replacing in-person displays and meet and greets with video streams and chats.

Even if organizers achieve their goals, it would still represent a 41% dip in attendance compared to the in-person

Hiding in plain sight at CES among a Samsung prototyping tablets that folds and slides, LG’s new wireless OLED TVs and a gaming concept controller from Dell are a whole crop of jaw-dropping, quirky or just plain weird gadgets. It’s one of the most delightful hallmarks of a show typically overflowing with slim new laptops and super speedy chips.

We’ll keep collecting the notably odd and sometimes unsettling tech products we saw this week. If you’re curious, here’s our ongoing list of the must-see gadgets of CES 2023and here’s a roundup of CES’s most futuristic gizmos.

We thought a urinal target was about as good as it got. Withings is going several steps deeper with in-toilet sensors that look a bit like a urinal cake and calculate if you’re low on nutrients, for example, or if you’re about to ovulate. Called U-Scan, the sensor attaches to your toilet bowl and analyzes your urine every day you use it. A companion app gives health readings over time.

The world’s biggest tech event – CES – is returning to full operation this week after two years scaled down due to the COVID pandemic.

Before the show floor at the Las Vegas Convention Center has even officially opened, huge Silicon Valley conglomerates and ambitious start-ups alike are already living up to the conference’s reputation for showcasing the great and the good – and the just plain weird – of consumer electronics .

Here are some of the product announcements that have caught our eye so far – for all sorts of reasons…

Ring in the new year

The Evie ring is pitched as the first medical grade smart ring designed uniquely for women, offering period and menstrual symptom tracking alongside familiar wearable features like monitoring heart rate and calories burned.

Like other wearables, data is displayed in a smartphone app, and its creator – Movano Health – says it will cost less than $300 (£248) when it releases later this year.
